Cumberland Walkathon
On Friday, October 17, 2008, Tyler participated in his first ever Cumberland Walkathon. The purpose of the Walkathon is to raise
money for the school's PTA, Library, and other school programs. This is Cumberland's only fundraiser of the year so it's very
important that everyone participate and help raise funds for this very important cause.

Every October, Tyler's (and Connor's) elementary school holds a Walkathon to raise funds for school activities and programs. This year Tyler wanted to
walk more than he walked last year so he pledged he would walk 30 laps. Despite having to walk many laps with Connor, Tyler fulfilled his pledge and
walked exactly 30 laps. We believe if he was able to walk unhindered, Tyler probably would have walked more.

The 2012 Walkathon was held on a beautiful October Friday with temperatures in the mid 70's. Tyler pledged to walk at least 30 laps (approximately 7 1/2 miles)
this year. At about lap 27 he started to feel pain above his left knee. He still had plenty of time to walk 3 more laps but Mommy and Daddy wanted him to take it
easy and rest. Tyler relented and sat for a little while but as soon as they announced a bonus lap for completing the next lap, Tyler jumped to his feet and
started running. In the end Tyler completed 39 laps (9 3/4 miles) plus he received credit for 5 bonus laps giving him a total of 44 laps. Despite his leg cramp, Tyler
surpassed his pledged 30 laps and nearly walked 10 miles to raise money for his school!

On Friday, October 18, 2013, Tyler participated in his final Cumberland Walkathon. As a last hurrah, Tyler walked the most laps he had ever walked. He completed 10
miles! It was nice to break the record he set for himself last year and it was especially nice to go out with a bang!
