Christmas 2021
Due to yet another COVID mutation, we were forced to cancel any plans we made to have holiday dinners with family. One by one each family unit had to bow out from having dinner with each other.
First, Uncle Joel said he had to cancel due to 2 people he works with having tested positive. Then, Tyler said someone he hung out with tested positive. Finally, cousin Collin helped at a baseball
camp and someone there tested positive. While we all tested negative, we felt it safer to simply stay at home and hope that we can resume holiday dinners next year. Even though we didn't get together,
the gifts kept on coming. Some highlights included clothes, Star Wars Lego, a new wallet, Brita water bottle with filter, and a book with a very personal connection.

One of the more interesting gifts Tyler received was a book titled, Galaxy Games: The Challengers. When Tyler opened the package you could tell he was wondering what was going on. It wasn't until
he turned the book over to read the story summary that he realized the main character's name was Tyler Sato! That's not all, when the character was little everyone called him Ty-Ty. He also loves
basketball and wears #21 on his uniform. The number of similarities is uncanny. Mind you, this isn't some book we had personalized with
his name. This is a real book published in 2011.

When Tyler returned from Fullerton, he couldn't wait to see Chloe and his friends from high school. One of the fun days planned was his trip to San Francisco
to visit the Chase Center, go ice skating, and eat. They had a lot of fun spending time with one another. Unfortunately, a few days later one of his friends found out she tested positive for COVID.
While suffering from a mild headache she never developed a fever or other symptoms associated with COVID, but she informed everyone else in the group none the less. As soon as they found out they all
locked down and took self-administered COVID home tests. Fortunately, everyone tested negative, but out of an abundance of caution they self-quarantined.
This meant Tyler and Chloe couldn't exchange gifts like they planned so they put it off until 3 days after Christmas. When they finally got together they opened gifts at our house and shared what each
other got from one another.

As was previously mentioned, we canceled our dinners with family due to the most recent COVID (Omicron) outbreak. This created a problem because we weren't able to exchange gifts. Since none of us
were getting together Uncle Joel decided he might as well go to work and give another firefighter time off to celebrate the holidays with their family. He ended up working 7 out of 8 days from Christmas
Eve through New Years Day, so there wasn't much of an opportunity to meet up with him to drop off Mason's gifts and pick up the kids' gifts. Fortunately, he did have New Years Eve off so Dad drove up to
San Mateo and exchanged gifts with him then.
