The Mego brand was resurrected in 2018 by Mego founder Marty Abrams. He didn't want to bring these toys back solely for the collector market, so he went to Target to see
if they would be interested in selling them for the mass market. Fortunately, Target was eager to sell them as exclusives.
The Mego Target exclusives ran through 2018. When 2019 came around retailers like Wal-Mart, ThinkGeek, GameStop, and even Bed, Bath, and Beyond could sell Mego figures.
One would think that finding these figures would be easier with a wider release, but it was still easier to order them online.
As soon as 2020 arrived Mego expanded their Star Trek line to include not only the classic Star Trek crew from the original series but also figures from the movies and Next Generation.

Exclusives
Near the end of 2021, sports card manufacturer Topps teamed up with Mego to sell an assortment of figures through their website. For about 2 months Topps sold 2 action figures a week exclusively
on their site. They sold DC Superheroes, Planet of the Apes, Universal Monsters, and of course Star Trek.
The Topps Exclusives were simultaneously heralded and despised by Mego collectors. As soon as the Topps versions were announced and made available for ordering many were overjoyed with the thought
of being able to get their hands on some very limited Mego action figures (average production run on these exclusives was only about 1735 each). On the other hand, there were those who did not like
the idea of having to order from one vendor and not being able to find them on the shelf at their local brick and mortar stores. Mego listened to their fans and decided to produce another run of these
characters. The question was how to satisfy those who had already purchased them through the Topps website and at the same time make them available to those who either could not or chose not to purchase
them online. Mego's solution was to reissue variants of the characters. The action figures would remain the same, but there would be subtle differences in these more mass produced variants.

In 2023 Master Replicas (UK) began selling Star Trek Mego figures on their website with stickers indicating they were European Exclusives limited to 1,000 units. They retailed for $23 each and were
shipped from overseas. These appear to be the "variant" figures offered at retail after the Topps exclusive promotion had run its course.
