On one of the hottest days of the year (91°) Jordyn moved out of the house into a Santa Clara condo (gated access) with an old friend from high school, Elena. It's a two bedroom/two bath condo with a
small living room, dining room, and kitchen. The condo also comes with a stack washer/dryer in the kitchen, filtered water in both the refrigerator and sink, and a decent size storage closet on the side of the
balcony. Elena has the master bedroom while Jordyn gets the other bedroom and the carport. This way they split the rent down the middle. It's not that far from work or the house so she can always stop by in
no time if she needs to. The one downside is the a/c is only in the common areas, so Jordyn had to run out and get a portable a/c unit for her bedroom. After moving all her furniture in she decided she could
use another small dresser in her closet and a bookcase at the foot of her bed. So, she and Dad drove out to Ikea in East Palo Alto and found exactly what she needed. In the meantime, Mom and the boys unloaded
all of Jordyn's stuff and started to put things away. It was during this time that fatigue started to set in. While waiting for Jordyn and Dad to return, both boys fell asleep. After a long day of moving and
assembling furniture it's the perfect place for Jordyn to start out on her own.
Elena's old roommate left her dining room table and chairs behind until Jordyn and Elena could find replacements. They really wanted to get something new because the old dining room set was counter height
and massive for the small space. Finally, the two of them found some time and headed out to Ikea (again). They found a narrower standard height dining room table with matching chairs. They also ordered a
coffee table for the living room from Wayfair. All of the stuff remained in boxes at the condo for a while until the old furniture was removed. Once the old dining room set was taken away they spent a day
assembling everything.
So Jordyn found out about a month and a half ago that her landlord decided to sell the condo she and Elena have been renting. Basically, when their lease expires in July they'll have to find another place to live. Fortunately,
the landlord also said they could leave anytime they wanted between now and then. That was a good thing because it gave them time to decide if they wanted to live in a similar type of condo, an apartment, or maybe rent a house. After
looking at many different apartment complexes they decided on finding a townhouse. What's funny was one of the choices that came up in their search was a two-bedroom condo in Parkside at River Oaks in North San Jose on Camille Circle.
About 20 years ago Ran and Deb had an identical two-bedroom condo at that same complex. Unfortunately, the condo ended up getting rented before they could even schedule a tour, but that would have been kind of cool had they rented
that place. Ultimately, they found another two-bedroom condo in West San Jose near the Saratoga exit off of 280. It's a nice airy 1,500 square foot space with attached garage.
Of course, now that they found a place they had to move. The timing ended up being perfect because the weekend prior to the scheduled move Mom, Dad, and Connor were in San Diego so Connor could attend the
SDSU Open House for Admitted Students. Also, the week following San Diego Connor was on Spring Break so he had time to help out. On Friday, April 19th Dad,
Connor, and Jordyn moved boxes from the Santa Clara condo to the San Jose townhouse. Dad had pulled his calf muscle about two weeks prior playing pickleball, so he couldn't handle the stairs too well. He would stay on ground level
while Jordyn and Connor (mostly Connor) walked up and down the stairs moving boxes so Dad could load the cars. After about an hour they successfully loaded Jordyn's CR-V and the Pilot. They headed straight to the townhouse where they
unloaded and placed the boxes in the appropriate rooms where they would be unpacked later. For lunch they went to Red Robin's and then proceeded back to Santa Clara to retrieve Jordyn's bed frame. They set up the bed frame in her
new bedroom, and this gave them a better idea where the rest of the furniture would get set up.

Moving Again - Day 2 April 20, 2024
The next morning Mom, Dad, Connor, and Jordyn helped move even more boxes plus some smaller items and clothes. Again, Dad stayed downstairs while poor Connor walked up and down the stairs (another 42 flights) handing him stuff to
load in the Pilot. Mom, meanwhile, was busy helping pack up the kitchen. They moved everything over to the townhouse, ate Jack In the Box for lunch, and then Jordyn, Connor, and Dad proceeded back to the condo to help load furniture.
Mom stayed behind to start the long process of cleaning and then lining all the kitchen and bathroom shelves. Friends (Anett, Desmond, Alex, and Kylie) who Jordyn and Elena helped move previously all came by to load furniture into
the fifteen foot U-Haul truck. You know who your true friends are when they show up to help you move.
A couple of things after moving in that Jordyn and Elena had to deal with was the upstairs wireless network and the TV mount in the living room. The wireless network was pretty decent downstairs, but upstairs was a little hit and
miss. Jordyn bought a new mesh point to boost the upstairs wireless signal. After she hooked it up she noticed the difference right away. A few days later Elena's dad swung by and helped mount the TV above the fireplace.
After moving into the townhouse, Jordyn and Elena had to decide on what to do for a couch. In the previous condo they were renting the couch came with the place. Since they had no desire to keep that old leather sofa, they had to
find something else that would fit their needs in the new larger space. They decided to get a sectional sofa that would fit under the front windows but also go along the long wall that led to the dining area.
