Every year, two students from every department at Homestead receive the prestigious Green and White Award. In her Junior year, Jordyn was awarded
the Green & White Award in Japanese for "demonstrating an appreciation for the beauty of the Japanese language, both written and spoken, and diligently making the study of Japanese a part of your life".
Jordyn joined FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) this year and signed up to compete in the Bay Section Accounting I and Accounting II competitions. She
had no idea how well she would do since she had no prior experience in these types of competitions. When the final results were announced, Jordyn was elated to find out she placed in the top 10 in both competitions! Even better, her 6th
Place award in Accounting I qualified her to compete in the state competition in April.
On Saturday, April 1, 2017 Jordyn was one of four high school seniors who were awarded scholarships by the Tri-City Youth Group at the annual Tri-City Awards
Banquet. She along with long time friends, Cami, Emi, and Erin, received scholarships in the amounts of $500 to $2,500. Each worthy recipient spoke eloquently about friends, coaches, parents, and the Tri-City Youth Group and
how each helped guide them along their journey from elementary school student to high school senior. It was a great moment for these amazing young women and their very proud parents.
On Thursday, April 6, 2017 Jordyn traveled to Sacramento, CA for the FBLA State Competition in Accounting I. Luckily for her, the Accounting I competition was held
the next day on Friday, April 7th. Saturday, she was to attend Admitted Students Day at SJSU, and afterward meet with faculty, alumni, and current students from Cal Poly Pomona. She had a great time staying with her fellow FBLA'ers. She
will never forget having to sleep on a bench in front of the window in her room or scrounging for clean towels because the hotel ran out of roll-aways and towels. The best part was finding out later she placed in the top ten in the state! It didn't
qualify her for Nationals, but the experience was unforgettable.
On Tuesday, May 9, 2017 Jordyn was presented with the 2017 Harry and Elsie Yoshida Memorial Award. This award is sponsored by the Sequoia JACL and the
Harry and Elsie Yoshida Memorial Award Selection Committee. It is given to a graduating high school senior who exemplifies characteristics of generosity with time, caring, selflessness, and a commitment to volunteering and assisting with
schools, churches, hospitals, seniors, social service agencies, and the homeless. We couldn't be more proud of Jordyn and her selfless commitment to helping others.

On Wednesday, May 24, 2017 Jordyn and many of her fellow seniors were recognized for their outstanding accomplishments during their high school careers. Jordyn was first presented with the FUHSD
Community Service Award. This award is given to all students who selflessly volunteer their time to the community. Jordyn also received the Japanese National Honor Society Award. This award is given
to students who promote Japanese culture through activities, socials, and volunteer events. At graduation, Jordyn will be able to wear a medal for her community service award and a red and white cord
for her JNHS Award. Outstanding.

On the last Sunday service of the academic school year, the Mountain View Buddhist Temple awarded Jordyn and three other graduating high school seniors the Rev. and Mrs. Sensho Sasaki Memorial
Scholarship. Each student articulated the breadth of their experiences at both Dharma School and the MVBT YBA. Graded on a point system, each graduate was found to be virtually identical in terms of
service and support. It's the first time four graduates have won this award in the same year.
On July 12, 2018, due to outstanding academic performance this past year, Jordyn was named to the Cal Poly Pomona President's Honor List. We couldn't be more proud of her accomplishments!
