Las Vegas
Tyler turned 21 back in June, and to celebrate this milestone the family traveled to Las Vegas with Grandma & Grandpa Higa, Uncle Derek & Aunty Lara, and Aunty Kathy. This tradition of going to Vegas when one of the kids turns 21 has been an Isaka (Grandma Higa's side of the family) tradition for many years. This is all fine and great for anyone 21 and older, but for Connor who was still 17 there wasn't a whole lot for him to do. Since we were staying at Planet Hollywood we were attached to the Miracle Mile Shopping Mall. This made it easy for Connor to exit the hotel and simply walk into the mall. There were a few shops he checked out like JD Sports, Tristar Sports Memorabilia, and Foot Locker. Best of all was an ice cream vendor called Cocolini. Connor and Dad bought ice cream there a number of times while they were visiting.

One morning they decided to walk up the Strip a few blocks to see the M&M's Store and Coca Cola Store. They tried to start out early because Las Vegas was really hot that weekend and going any later would have been miserable. On another day, the two of them drove to the Las Vegas Premium Outlets where they found a bunch of stores to check out. Connor was able to pick up a few things like shorts and t-shirts from Levi's and Gap.

The best thing happening in Vegas that weekend was the 2024 NBA Summer League at UNLV! Even better was the fact that the Warriors summer league team was playing on Saturday, July 13th! They made sure to purchase tickets and watched 3 games, Pistons vs. 76ers, Trailblazers vs. Spurs, and Suns vs. Warriors. The Thomas and Mack Center at UNLV was a very short drive from Planet Hollywood. Parking was free and the food was cheap by professional sports standards. In the end, Connor and Dad were able to snag some great seats to watch future stars play basketball. Maybe Connor couldn't gamble or drink, but he still found some cool stuff to do!
